Online Motocross – Off-Road Coaching with Gary Semics

Online Motocross Coaching

Me and Jeremy McGrath.

Jeremy McGrath and I.

With today’s technologies, online motocross coaching makes a lot of sense. Wouldn’t it be great to have a top motocross trainer/coach just like the factory riders have?  For most riders this is not an option because of cost, location and other factors.  My online motocross training programs are the next best thing to having that personal trainer and it’s very practical, convenient and economical.  Some of the top riders I’ve trained in the past were coached over the phone and through emails.  Riders like John Dowd, Stephane Roncada, Steve Lampson and Mike Brown, to name a few.  You don’t need a trainer with you to make sure you’re doing what you’re supposed to do, you just need to know what, when and how, then you can follow through and get it done.  It’s easy with today’s technologies: email attachments, You Tube videos, texting and cell phone calls from anywhere.  Most of today’s mobile phones can send voice records, so you don’t even have to type or voice record your text.  The free “Whatsapp” does all this from your smart phone worldwide and it’s all free.

Motocross Training Methods

I’ve made a life study out of weekly preparation programs and how they best apply to motocross/off-road racing.  I have the time tested and proven results to back it up.  The riders I’ve trained have won 26 AMA Pro Motocross/Supercross Titles.  Riders from Jeremy McGrath to Ryan Villopoto.  Fixing all of Jeremy’s riding techniques was the quick and easy part, after that it was all about his weekly training routines.  It was much of the same with the other top riders I’ve trained, like Ezra Lusk, Kevin Windham, Branden Jesseman and others. Not only motocross but I’ve also trained successful Off-Road racers like Chuck Woodford and Fred Andrews.

Training for this type of racing is unique and requires different preparation methods then other sports.  You’re training on the bike is the most important piece of the puzzle.  All the other training that needs to be done off the bike are also key in completing the puzzle.  Do you want to be lean and mean or fat and sassy…lol.    Why learn the hard way by trial and error or taking advice from anyone who has not been there and done that.  Sure they mean well but can’t possibly understand what it really takes unless they have had a successful motocross racing and coaching career.   You would be ready to retire by the time you have it figured out.  Worst yet, you may give up and never understand what you should of, could of, would have done to reach your full potential.   Learn the right way from my long racing history and coaching successes!

The hardest part of the preparation for racing is the physical training.  “There Is No Easy Way”. But there are methods and strategies for getting the best results!  One unique thing about motocross is that it takes a great deal of cardiovascular conditioning but unlike cycling or running it also takes a lot of strength, making it both an aerobic and anaerobic sport.  Also in our sport things happen very quickly, so the eye to brain perception, along with feeling what is happening, to body reaction and movement are primary keys and this all has to happen automatically.  This eye and feeling perception to body reaction and movement needs to be programed with the 55 Absolute Techniques of motocross, making the rider and M/C become one.  Once this foundation is reached and you can ride smooth and fast, your physical fitness plays a major roll.   Your average heart rate during a race will be just below your lactic threshold and will max out at times.  You only have so much time and energy to spend each day.  You need to be efficient with all your weekly routines in order to race at your highest potential.

Signup with me to be your personal coach and you will receive;

– You will send the first question form (below) when you signup.  Then you will be emailed a second form that is more in depth.  After that we will have a discussion over the phone for me to get to know you better and be able to set up the best starter programs for you. We will stay in contact as your levels of fitness keep improving so I can keep adjusting your weekly routines.

– I will critique your mx and/or off-road riding techniques and explain what and how you need to correct.  Just send me a link to a 5 to 20 minute Youtube video.  If you can’t supply a streaming video you can explain to me over the phone where you need to improve your riding skills.  I’ve always said the foundation of riding/racing is the “55 Absolute Techniques of Motocross”.  This way you’ll be practicing correctly.

– Tailored weekly training routines (sent by email), along with private how to You Tube videos.  These will consist of practice on the bike, strength, cardio, core and flexibility programs, all organized through the perfect frequencies, durations and intensities.  I’ll design these combinations to fit into your personal schedule and grow your level of fitness higher and higher.  These weekly routines will not only improve your general fitness but most importantly your fitness on the bike.  The You Tube private videos will explain and show you how to do certain cardio and weight workouts, flexibility and deep tissue self-massage.

– Tailored monthly diet, nutrition and meal samples according to your needs as you progress. This will include an overview of what types of foods to eat and avoid, along with over 30 meal samples with illustrating pictures delivered by email in PDF files.  All that hard work requires race fuel for your body.  When you have the knowledge of what and when to eat you’ll understand how simple and inexpensive it really is to eat right.

Gary, my son Jake (15) and I really enjoy your videos. We have all of volume 3 and are looking forward to the next video. I am amazed how fast Jake has improved just by watching your videos and practicing the techniques. Jake moved up to a 250 last April and is usually one of the fastest riders at the tracks, thanks to the techniques you teach. Jake is going to try to qualify for Loretta’s in the 250B class this next year. Just wanted to say thanks.
Your website say the next video will be out soon. Is there any way we can preorder the video?

Hi Cindy!
I’m a new user of the Gary Semics motocross training DVD series which I stumbled on one day while searching the internet for training aids. As a 41 year old brand new rider with a 7 year old who loves to ride as much as I do . . . well, suffice to say that Gary’s videos have been incredible. I bought his largest package and have learned so much in a short period of time.

Lastly, tell Gary (I’m assuming you’re related) that the “Goon Riding” was the funniest thing we’ve ever seen – mainly because it reminded my whole family (5 of us) EXACTLY what I looked like when I started riding for the first time this past May – what a grin!! It was priceless – absolutely priceless to see my family and myself laugh as hard as we did!!! Thanks for that.

Lastly, my son loves the Gary Semics T-shirt that came in our package, do you have them in X-Large? If yes, how much are they?

Thanks Cindy! Have a great weekend!!

Hi Gary & Cindy,
Gary – your products are fantastic! I originally purchased a single streaming video to “test” your product. As a firm believer in getting information/instruction from someone who has “fruit on tree”, I wanted to see what you were about – AND YOU DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!

Within days, I returned to your site and purchased the largest package you offered – everything you had at the time (as I remember it) and that’s the subject of my inquiry. Since my purchase of the 2011 Everything Value Pack, you have produced two MUST HAVE videos (must have is my opinion of course) about jumping and scrubbing.

Do you have any discounts for folks like me that have purchased everything you produced at the time of order? I will be completely transparent and tell you that I am going to purchase them even if you don’t, I just thought you might have a discount code for folks that are 100% in with the Gary Semics program.

I will be giving your two newest videos to my son for Christmas.

PS – for what it’s worth, I’m 42 and only started riding 8 months ago. My son (7 yrs old – started riding 8 months ago too) and I are now “dirt bike buddies”! All we do with our free time is watch your videos, learn as much as we can, then take your book to the track to practice (riding only about 3 times a week right now)! We are doing our first race in Southern Utah this month (Dec 29th & 30) and we credit our confidence and desire to your training system.

Thanks again Gary, for reading this email, responding, and for taking the time to produce great videos that help beginners like me become decent riders in a short amount of time.

I look forward to hearing back from you!

I took one of Gary’s two day classes in Ohio 10-12 years ago when I was struggling in the C class. Prior to the class I had invested in all the hop up parts and suspension work I could afford and none of it made one shit bit of difference. Oh when I did case a jump it was smoother and my bike sounded bad ass but the trophies were few to nonexistent. I cannot stress how improved my whole skill set became after those two days. I have a barn full of trophies and one season championship under my belt (now retired from racing) and I really have to thank Gary for running a great program. BTW all that information helped me not only in MX but HS, GNCC, Ice Racing and Flat track.
If I were to do it again I would have gone to several of Gary’s classes when i was younger and only invested in better safety equipment.

BTW I’m not trying to spam Gary’s Schools but just giving you in my opinion the best advice I could to anyone who lines up on a gate.

My oh my what great memories I have hammering out countless hours of Semics drills. My dad was a tight ass & never sent me to his school, even thou we aren’t even 2 hours from his location. I myself was a beginner motocrosser that had only 3 harescramble races under my belt and laps put down on a couple backyard mx tracks.. So needless to say I wasn’t blitzing the whoops, railing berms or throwing fat whips. I was nothing more than a back marker in the 85cc 7-11 class of the local racing scene. I bullshit you not that within that same season I ended up beating kids that were waxing my ass at the start of it . Without a doubt the reason I made such quick improvements was by watching Semics VHS tapes (yes vhs) and religiously performing those drills for hours.. Turn tracks were what helped me the most, they’re the ticket.. I’d recommend any of his dvd’s or tapes.

Gary I totally respect you as a Championship competitor and an Instructor of the best of the best. I believe you are helping people enjoy the sport much more and reduce their chances of injury through better riding techniques. Before I used your Manual I was a middle of the pack rider. Then in the off season I bought and used your manual, I keep using it every time I practice and review it often. In the following 5 years I have won Regional and National titles in Vintage and Post Vintage MX in 100cc 125cc 250cc and 500cc Next year I’m going after Open Twin 650cc. Thank you for creating such an inexpensive comprehensive tool for us to use.

Just wanted to say thank you for your in depth DVD’s , with your knowledge and training techniques of the sport of riding you have taught me a lot, and from that it has helped my 6 year old become a really technical rider. Started your dvds when he was 5 an man have they taught him a lot.

Gary, I’ve got most of your DVD’s and they’ve helped me a lot. But, your DVD MX Cornering Speed Beyond the Basics made a huge improvement for me. I watched it dozens of times and picked up a lot of things. It’s easily cut my lap times a few seconds a lap. Made a huge improvement with cornering in deep ruts, and saving energy too. Now deep ruts don’t bother me at all. That’s where I can make up a lot of time.

If any of you struggle with your cornering, and ruts. Get this DVD and study it, and watch it many times. It will help you.

Your videos are amazing. I love the clear ad concise method you convey difficult concept in an easy to understand manner. I switched from racing ATVA quad mx before going to A class in that discipline. Decided to take it to 2 wheels. Been on them 4.5-5 years, and some times before that. However I’m just now taking it serious. You program WORKS! The feeling of safety and implanting the movements into the CNS memory allows the rider to “adapt.” If this makes sense. I sent a friend request thinking it would be a great way to help you communicate with me if I have an issue. If not you are leaving behind a legacy man and I just wanted to say that’s something only great men get to leave behind. God Bless, Keep it fast, Keep it safe, and Keep up the good work. Thanks so much,

Luke Baldridge

Hi Gary,

I just wanted to drop you a note, I purchased your DVD set 1-8, a few months ago and have watched all of them a few times and continue to do so. I just purchased your book manual so I can take it to the track. I started ridding when I was about six, stopped riding around 30, and started riding again at 50, because my son wanted to learn how. He’s been a snow skier since about 5.

Your videos are absolutely great, even though I thought I was a good rider, I had some bad habits that have made it much safer and stopped me from passing them off to my son.

Your videos are a great service to dirt bike riders safety and would and do recommend them to anyone who wants to have much more fun and be a safer rider.

Thank you and I hope you continue your success, you deserve it!

Happy New Year!!!

Mr. Semics,

I have been watching your DVD’s since I purchased the everything pack and I am very excited to get back on the track and start applying all I have learned form your material, so glad I didn’t get back into it before watching your DVD’s because I would have fell back into some bad habits I never realized I was doing before the DVD’s.  Long story short the format and teaching methods are excellent.  I am very impressed.

Thanks again.  Have a good one.

Gary, just got a chance to watch your new video “Motocross Skills for Vets”.
Great video, very informative, easy to follow. I love how you broke down the different areas.
Can’t wait to get out there and practice those techniques.
Thanks, Norm

I have several of Gary’s videos and I can say that they are absolutely worth every penny! I’ve bought and watched a lot of other videos and they don’t even come close to GSMX! Gary has a way of describing techniques others can’t.   Thanks Gary!

John Helmsley from FB.

I always enjoy your videos and wish I was closer to attend one of your summer group classes.  I feel this is one of your most informative videos.  You have most of your key techniques included in a pretty compact amount of time.  I think it is very applicable to everyone, not just Vet riders.  This video could really help beginners develop the correct skills and know why they should use them.

Hi Gary,
My name is Reda Amiri I’m 50 years old from United Arab Emirates, I wanted to thank you very very much for your help with your knowledge and the incredible training techniques and strategy , It had helped me a lot and I became a respectable rider among my local riders. I have started your training program since 2003.
With best wishes

Hi Gary,

It’s been around 1 year since I received your training videos 1-8 and it was the best decision that I ever made, and well worth the money spent. I like to spend money on my bike to make it better, but the bike is an extension of the rider, so it makes sense that the investment of proper training would be the most important on a riders list. I’m sure everyone has seen the guy on a trick bike get schooled by a rider on a lesser bike with skills. I have your sticker on my bike and when it comes up I always tell them about you, because I hate to see someone get hurt when it doesn’t need to happen. I ride faster now and feel more comfortable and in control in the air because of your videos, I also haven’t had any serious crashes since I started watching them, because I listened to you advice to slow way down and focus on technique.
I just ordered your new Vet DVD since I am now 51 and want to keep enjoying this as long as I can.
Best regards!
-Jeff Swanson

Hi Gary

I have enjoyed and have learned so much from your videos. I purchased a few series but I recently purchased the vet videos and I love them. Well done!

Just wanted to say im a big fan. Iv never had any actual coaching in the sport, but i have watched all your dvds countless times. This year i achieved 11th overall in the Australian supercross championship sx1 class as a privateer racer. And largely i attribute that to your dvds insights.

Thanks very much,

Thomas Hill from FB

Thank You Gary, I bought one of the a value packs…I ride a lot and practice using your video’s (huge improvement) now I can watch them anywhere!!!   Thanks again & keep up the great work.

Afternoon sir. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you. I’ve been fallowing you on Facebook now for close to a year. I ride bikes and quads and your instructional videos have really helped me progress.  Especially in jumping and cornering. I’ve developed my own way of converting my dirtbike skills to quads and the results are more than satisfying. Thank you so much for what you do!    Dus West

Just wanted to say thanks again for the tips at your class last weekend. Helped me get the overall win this weekend at the South of the Border AQ.
